Why ATLAS is different

Not a super conference. On purpose.

Some legal conferences are built to be as big as possible: thousands of badges, a dozen tracks, and a keynote you watch on a screen from the back of a ballroom. ATLAS Lawyers was never built to be that. We are not the best-known or flashiest name on the legal conference circuit. We focus on quality.

We aim to provide an intimate setting to benefit ATLAS attendees, sponsors, speakers, and family. That means capping the room rather than filling it, and building the three days around conversation instead of foot traffic.

Attendees get straight answers from people who run firms their size. Sponsors and speakers get real conversations with the owners who decide and sign, not a badge scan on the way to lunch. Everyone leaves with a detailed list of people they can call the following week.

By design, ATLAS is capped at 75 registrations. We don’t want you to get lost in a sea of humanity. You’ll get to know everyone and build personal relationships that last long after the conference.

One room. One program.

Every attendee hears every session. No choosing between a dozen breakouts and no comparing notes in the hallway afterward. You and the firm owner next to you heard the same thing.

Speakers at your table

Presenters are firm owners, operators, and the people building the tools you use. They stay for breakfast, the receptions, and the conversations after their slot.

Ideas you use Monday

Intake, marketing, technology, and firm management, taught by people doing it now. Attendees go home with vendors and ideas they would not have found on their own.

A room that remembers you

Many attendees have been coming for more than a decade. Show up once and you are part of the ATLAS family — by the last night, everyone knows your name.

In their words

“There are plenty of legal conferences you can attend throughout the year. ATLAS is different. If you own a law firm and want practical ideas for making it run better and growing it, it is one of the few conferences I can say has had a real impact on my practice.”

John M. Hart, III, Esq.

“As a result of the conference, I went to my New York office, notes in hand, for a full-day meeting with my key staff and started to implement many of the ideas I came away with.”

Jerrold S. Parker, Esq.
Chris Munley

Our Host, Chris Munley

Founder of ATLAS Lawyers and Partner at Munley Law

Chris Munley founded ATLAS Lawyers in 2008 to bring small law firms together to share experiences about the practice, business development, employee management and technological advancements.

Chris is a partner in his family law firm, Munley Law, which is listed in Best Lawyers in America, and he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. ATLAS grew out of a simple idea: the best way to learn how to build and run a successful legal practice is to hear from the lawyers who have done it. Warts and all, you’ll hear about their successes and failures, the ideas that inspired them and those that nearly broke them. In the end you learn that success is hard work and prospers in a garden of past failure. You have to try, and be willing to fail, in order to succeed.

Chris designed ATLAS to bring together practicing lawyers, marketing professionals and tech entrepreneurs to help teach other lawyers how to succeed. Always remember: if you are going to fail, then fail gloriously!

Attendee testimonials

Here’s what some of our past attendees have to say.

Many years ago, Chris Munley had the vision to create the ATLAS Conference, long before legal consulting groups, coaching programs, and mastermind organizations became commonplace. Chris recognized that successful law firms needed a forum where lawyers could come together to openly exchange ideas, challenges, and solutions regarding management, marketing, technology, and growth.

What began as an innovative idea has evolved into a remarkable community. ATLAS remains true to its original mission: helping lawyers become better business leaders and better stewards of their firms. There is no hidden agenda, only a genuine commitment to sharing knowledge and elevating the profession.

Garry R. Salomon, Esq.Teaneck, NJ

Each year I attend several seminars sponsored by different organizations. I recently attended my first, but hopefully not my last, ATLAS Lawyers conference.

ATLAS was an extremely well-run, well-organized three-day conference that covered many areas of great importance to my office. For example, some of the segments included insightful ideas on how to get more injury cases without incurring large advertising expenditures, personal injury law firm management, meaningful and state-of-the-art web marketing techniques, new case and project ideas, and “Ghost Calling” intake staff (which we have done successfully in the past).

If that wasn’t enough, the Munleys treated everyone like family. Chris is an excellent moderator who kept everything upbeat — he has real potential as a stand-up comic.

As a result of the conference, I went to my New York office, notes in hand, for a full-day meeting with my key staff and started to implement many of the ideas I came away with.

I tip my hat to the Munleys — great job. I’m looking forward to being invited back.

Jerrold S. Parker, Esq.New York, NY

The ATLAS Lawyers conference in Phoenix was one of the best I have ever attended. I have been to over 75 conferences during the past 20 years, and ATLAS is comfortably in my top 10. The program was interesting and entertaining, and it gave me plenty of new ideas to take back to the office and use immediately in our marketing and management departments.

Ken Nunn, Esq.Indianapolis, IN

It is always a pleasure hearing the ATLAS family’s insight into what is happening in the industry. It is this real-time connection that allows us to continue to grow and flourish in a down economy, and in a profession that is under constant attack.

Ted Greve, Esq.Charlotte, NC

I have been attending ATLAS conferences and seminars for small law firms since the days when law firm advertising was primarily done through phone books. Over the years, I have consistently found their conferences to be informative, relevant, and well worth attending. They bring together great speakers who understand the challenges of marketing and growing a law firm.

What I appreciate most is that the information is practical. I make it a point to take what I learn at these conferences and incorporate it into our day-to-day practice—because if you attend a conference but never put what you learn into action, what is the point?

The strategies and ideas I have picked up over the years have helped improve our daily practices, increase our firm’s exposure, and attract better-quality cases. I always leave with something useful that I can bring back to the office and implement.

Anthony Carbone, Esq.Jersey City, NJ

What sets Chris and ATLAS apart is the honesty. Chris is an open book about what’s working in his firm today, and what isn’t. It’s not a vendor pitchfest. It’s a room full of lawyers who run real firms, comparing notes. Bring a list of the problems you’re working through in your own practice. Someone in the room has dealt with them before.

Clayton T. Hasbrook, Esq.Oklahoma City, OK

ATLAS Lawyers was fantastic! Thank you for all the hard work that went into planning it.

Spencer Farris, Esq.St. Louis, MO

ATLAS Lawyers is a more relaxed conference that’s easy to enjoy and is a nice change of pace from some of the larger legal conferences. The atmosphere is fun, and it’s easy to connect and network with other attorneys. Good speakers and useful takeaways.

Matthew Russell, Esq.Spokane, WA

I very much enjoyed attending the ATLAS Lawyers conference! Thanks for putting it together.

Rex Curtis Bush, Esq.Draper, UT

Attending an ATLAS Lawyers conference is a must for personal injury attorneys. ATLAS gives you the chance to network with peers throughout the country and pick up valuable practice tips for maximizing your clients’ recoveries. It also provides access to vendors that offer cutting-edge technology that not only makes your practice more efficient but also increases the value of settlements and verdicts for your clients. Chris Munley and his team put on an interesting, informative, and action-packed program that really hits all the right notes. I cannot recommend ATLAS Lawyers enough.

Kevin Conaboy, Esq.Clarks Summit, PA

I have been attending ATLAS Lawyers conferences across the country for more than ten years, and I have taken something positive and useful away from every conference. Whether it is a new idea for managing or marketing my practice, a vendor I later began using in my office, or simply a fresh perspective on running a law firm, the programs have always provided real value. ATLAS has also given me the opportunity to develop strong professional relationships and to meet new people who understand the challenges of operating a successful firm. The conferences strike a good balance of education, networking, and camaraderie, and the social events are always genuinely enjoyable. ATLAS is more than just a legal conference — it is an opportunity to improve your practice, build meaningful relationships, and have a great time while doing it.

Todd Johns, Esq.Dunmore, PA

I’ve been to several ATLAS Lawyers conferences now, and I have gotten something useful out of every single one. What I like about ATLAS is that it isn’t the typical conference where you sit through presentations, take a few notes, and never think about them again.

My firm has grown quite a bit over the last several years, and some of that growth can be directly attributed to things I learned about or relationships I made through ATLAS. Whether it was software that made the office run better, a new way to market the firm, or a vendor I otherwise never would have known existed, I have always come home with something I could apply right away. You develop relationships with people who are facing the same challenges you are in running and growing a law firm.

There are plenty of legal conferences you can attend throughout the year. ATLAS is different. If you own a law firm and want practical ideas for making it run better and growing it, it is one of the few conferences I can say has had a real impact on my practice.

John M. Hart, III, Esq.Dunmore, PA

Thank you for a great conference. It always exceeds my expectations. You can be assured that I will attend the next one.

Josephs P. Hanyon, Esq.Pocono Summit, PA
